THE Shannons Nationals was saddened to hear of the passing of Kerrick Sports Sedan competitor Des Wall today, after a brief battle with Cancer.
Des was a strong supporter of the resurgence of Sports Sedan Racing in Australia and won the 2009 series in his Chevrolet Corvette after a long Sports Sedan career that included a NSW title and a rise to prominence in the 1980s and early 90s in his now-iconic V8 Supra.
His varied career included starts in the Bathurst 1000, 12 hour and 24 hour races as well as state-level racing around the country.
The father of V8 Supercar driver and Australian GT Champion David – who won the GT title the same year Des won the Sports Sedan crown, a feat unlikely to be matched - Des was a keen supporter of motorsport in general and his laidback presence was welcomed at Shannons Nationals circuits around Australia.
The Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships, on behalf of our competitors, sponsors, supporters and officials, would like to extend our sympathies to the Wall family and friends at this time.
Des Wall: 1951-2012.
