THE 2013 Radical Australia Cup will feature a six-round calendar and more events with the Shannons Nationals, Radical Australia confirmed today.

Commencing at the Top Gear Festival Sydney in March, the series will then contest its next five rounds with the Shannons Nationals, including two visits to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, a new, one off feature event with three hours race time at Sydney Motorsport Park and a return to Wakefield Park, near Goulburn.

The three-hour event will form part of a super-endurance weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park run on the Saturday of the Australian Six-hour race weekend.

The expanded and higher profile category will see the brand new Radical SR8 RX race alongside the SR3 RS, at some of the fastest and most challenging circuits in Australia..

Radical Australia has also confirmed a return of the Radical Clubman Cup in 2013, which will dovetail into two RAC rounds, further boosting grids at the Top Gear Festival Sydney and the Sydney Motorsport Park three-hour event in July.

Remaining Clubman Cup rounds will form part of the NSW SuperSports category and their state-based calendar.

The boost in profile will see the Radical Australia Cup receive TV and live internet coverage for each round on the Shannons Nationals program.

The series has renewed its category management links with CAMS and will, for the first time, also appoint a dedicated category manager to sustain day-to-day and race weekend operations. A dedicated category technical officer and eligibility officer will also form part of a beefed-up support staff across the season.

Radical Australia will also pass on the additional revenue generated by increased grids, reducing entry fees by an average of nearly 25% for 2013, when compared to this year – full series registration and all entry fee’s set at just $12,000, with a special early bird offer.

The desire to increase cost-effectiveness will ensure that the series retains competitors and encourages growth by lowering the cost of competing for RAC competitors – going against current national trends.

“The 2013 Radical Australia Cup calendar, released today, is another step forward for Radical in Australia and confirms our position as one of the fastest growing and most exciting categories on the Australian Motorsport landscape,” said Radical Australia Sales & Marketing Manager, Tom Wilson.

“We are excited to be a full-time Shannons Nationals category and working with that series to grow our profile at their events. The July Sydney Motorsport Park three-hour event will also be an exciting addition to the calendar and is set to become a real marquee race for our drivers to go out and try to win.

“We are beefing up our category management team and will have a series of appointments behind the scene that will enhance the way that the series is run. It’s all part of the plan to move the category forward and continue the great growth we witnessed in 2012.”
