$50,000 SWIFT SERIES DRIVE OFFERED BY SHANNONS NATIONALS

THE Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals and Australian Suzuki Swift Racing Series will offer one of the most valuable prizes within Australian Motorsport in 2013.

The Swift Drivers Challenge will pit drivers against the clock and each other to compete for a sponsored full-season drive in the 2013 Australian Swift Racing Series valued at approximately $50,000.

The Swift Drivers Challenge will be held across three days across the February 22-24 weekend in Queensland, commencing with a series of practice and orientation sessions at the famous Lakeside Raceway on Friday, February 22.

Still at Lakeside, competitors will then experience Swift competition under race conditions on Saturday, with a series of assessments to be undertaken whilst drivers enjoy one of the nation’s quickest and most demanding circuits’.

The challenge will then travel south to Norwell’s well-known driver training circuit for more on-track activities, timed laps, media skills testing and more – with the ultimate winner to be determined at the end of the weekend.

Along with media and presentation skills, the variety of assessed tasks is designed to find the most well-rounded driver to win the competition.

Drivers will receive points for each activity within the competition with the winner receiving a fully-funded drive in the 2013 Australian Suzuki Swift Racing Series, in a car fully sponsored by the Shannons Nationals.

A highly affordable opportunity for young drivers, the entry fee is just $3,000 which is all inclusive, save for travel and accommodation.

“This is one of the richest prizes available to drivers in Australian Motorsport,” Said competition coordinator, Liam Curkpatrick.

“It is a rare occurrence that a driver can take to the track for one weekend and potentially, if they are good enough, come out of it with a fully-funded season of racing in a national level category, with all of the associated TV and competition that go with it.

“It is a competition geared towards young drivers, but in reality someone from any walk of life has the potential to win the competition and take the drive.”

The 2013 Australian Suzuki Swift Racing Series will be held over seven rounds, each with the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals.

Four sprint rounds (Mallala, Winton, Queensland Raceway and Wakefield Park) will be contested with three (Phillip Island, Sydney Motorsport Park and Sandown) to be held in conjunction with rounds of the Australian Manufacturers Championship (AMC).

Sprint rounds will feature three, 20-minute races and the combined rounds one, 15-minute sprint and a one-hour race alongside the AMC cars.

Swift entrants will then have the potential to continue on with the remainder of the Manchamps event with additional drivers if they desire.

Each round of the series will include TV on SBS Speedweek and SPEED TV Australia.
