Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia presented by Pirelli will continue the theme of endurance competition this weekend when the series visits Victorian motorsport hub, Winton Motor Raceway.

The GT3 Cup Challenge round will hold the second Jim Richards Endurance Trophy race of the season at Winton in only the second occasion the Porsche category has visited the regional 3.0 km circuit.

Richard Muscat currently heads the Endurance Trophy standings after victory in the 40-lap endurance race at the season opening Mallala round. The young gun will this weekend be challenged by speedsters Michael Almond, who won the opening round, and Fraser Ross, who, like Muscat, will be competing on home soil.

In addition to leading the Endurance Trophy points, Muscat also holds a 14-point lead in the Professional Class standings after becoming the 15th individual round winner in the series following his impressive performance at the Porsche Rennsport Australia event. Muscat is followed in the Professional Class standings by Almond, Ross, Peter Fitzgerald, Phil Woodbury and GT3 Cup Challenge newcomer Jack Falla.

The battle among the Elite Class drivers will also continue at Winton, with John Goodacre, Stephen Grove and John Morriss sharing the top-three podium positions in the opening two rounds; Goodacre taking class victories in both rounds. Fellow Elite Class drivers John Karytinos and Scott Taylor will also look to secure a step on the GT3 Cup Challenge podium for the first time at the Winton round.

The Jim Richards Endurance Trophy race will be the highlight of the GT3 Cup Challenge on-track schedule, with the 30-lap event to be held on Saturday June 22 at 2:05pm.

The Porsche series will then feature two 10-lap races on Sunday to conclude the third round of the 2013 season.
