FORMULA 3 SET FOR FOUR NATIONALS ROUNDS IN '14
The Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship will return to four major Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals Events in 2014, in the continuation of a partnership that commenced in 2006.
F3 will race at Sandown Raceway (March), Queensland Raceway (August), Phillip Island (September) and Sydney Motorsport Park (November) with the Nationals offering four circuits that are geared towards producing both exciting ‘wings and slicks’ racing, plus two of the most challenging and fastest circuits in Australia.
Offering the most challenging and exciting circuits for drivers possible, Formula 3 will next year visit three circuits offering an average lap speed of more than 170km/hr – reinforcing the championships position as the fastest and most challenging for young drivers in Australia.
Formula 3 will continue to receive the largest possible TV package available at Shannons Nationals rounds with more than one hour per round broadcast between free-to-air network SBS TV and SPEED TV Australia, on FOXTEL.
The F3 Australian Drivers Championship was a ‘foundation’ category within the Shannons Nationals in 2006 and has had at least two rounds of the championship on Nationals rounds each year since.
The ‘Wings and slicks’ racers will feature at circuits best suited to providing thrilling racing, as well as the major Queensland Event which will include Formula Ford open-wheelers as well.
The F3ADC will contest their season finale at Sandown with the Shannons Nationals, this November.
The remainder of the F3 Calendar will be held at the Bathurst Motor Festival, Darwin V8 Supercars and two rounds yet to be announced.
