LOCALS KING AT MALLALA

LOCAL SOUTH AUSTRALIANS lead the way in the build-up to the second round of the DIAL BEFORE YOU DIG Australian Super Six Touring Car Series at Mallala today.

Driving Holden Commodore VTs, Morphett Vale Garages’ team mates Wayne King and Shawn Jamieson (title winner of 2009) have provisionally locked out the front row. They headed the time sheets over the three sessions conducted at the South Australian provincial motor racing circuit.

Third fastest and last race winner, was Gavin Ross in his Blackwell Race Engines Commodore, making it a Holden one-two-three. He finished ahead of the best of the Fords in Matt Lovell’s Batteries Direct Falcon AU – Lovell having his first outing in two years and after winning the title in 2011.

Next was the Pfitzner Performances Gearboxes AU of Kane Baxter-Smith who finished third at the opening round while the Rick Gill Motorcycles Falcon of Rick Gill was sixth. The series leading Pakenham Tyres Commodore VT of Travis Lindorff completed the session in seventh after early dramas with a fuel pump.

Completing the top ten were Harley’s Phelan Kleenduct Holden ahead of the Luke Westall Transley Solutions Falcon and Chris Lillis in his two-times series winning Holden backed by Cachet Homes. Just after them were new comers Jason Leoncini and Brad Day in their Holden Commodores.

After a dramatic rollover at the first round, Ben Grice is back in a repaired Ford to be a steady 13th ahead of team mate Brent Edwards, the Dial Before You Dig Ford of Mark Primmer, Phil Gray’s Falcon and the Fords of Cameron Moss and Tony Auddino.
