JUSTIN RUGGIER - FAN VOTE WINNER

V8 TOURING CARS champion Justin Ruggier was a convincing winner in the Shannons Nationals Racer of the Year Fan Voting for 2014 - with the votes going towards the overall ROTY award to be announced later this month.

Ruggier topped an incredible list of drivers with all 34 nominated receiving votes throughout the week.

Formula 3 champion Simon Hodge was second while the biggest surprise was Super Six Touring Car ace Jason Leoncini - the series rookie of the year - who proved the power of social media by finishing a stunning third.

Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge rookie Matt Campbell scored more votes than the series champion to finish fourth, ahead of a fast-finishing Beric Lynton. Ross, Tony Ricciardello, Matt Chahda, Super Six champ Gavin Ross and Sports Racer Roger I'Anson completed the top-10, with seven of the eight eligible Shannons Nationals race categories represented.

Peter Paddon was the top Radical Australia Cup driver, in twelfth.

Of the categories, V8 Touring Car drivers received the most votes (1193 combined), ahead of Formula 3 (805) and the Super Six Touring Cars (493).

The ROTY Fan voting goes towards, but does not decide, the overall 2014 Shannons Nationals Racer of the year. The top 10 finishers in the fan voting are included with a significant weighting with votes cast by a judging panel made up of management, series media, officials and more.

Each member of the judging panel anonymously casts their top-10 drivers in order with those votes then included with the fan votes to determine the overall Shannons Nationals Racer of the Year.

This ensures that the result is not driven entirely by drivers with a large online following!

The winner will be announced in late November.
