SHANNONS NATIONALS BROADCASTS TO STEP UP IN 2015
SHANNONS AUSTRALIAN Motor Racing Nationals rounds will be broadcast in high definition for the first time in 2015 while comprehensive, free internet streaming coverage will return for all eight rounds scheduled this year.
Highlights of every round will be shown in HD on SBS HD at the same time they air on SBS’ popular Speedweek program each Sunday afternoon.
The Nationals will receive 20-hours of free-to-air coverage this year on SBS and SBS HD with all shows also replayed on FOX Sports home of Motorsport, Channel 506, throughout the year.
Meanwhile, more than 80 hours of live streaming coverage will be produced throughout the season, delivering live and free racing to fans in Australia and around the world via the series’ Nationals TV service available via the www.thenationals.com.au website.
Coverage from each round will also be streamed via the MotorsportsTV smartphone app, available for iPhone and Android platforms.
Coverage from every session on the Sunday of every Nationals round this year will be streamed live. Round two at Phillip Island will include two days of coverage to ensure GT fans can catch the Saturday Australian GT Championship Phillip Island 101 enduro and Porsche Carrera Cup one-hour races live.
“There is more value than ever before in enjoying a consistent, free-to-air TV product and we are very pleased that viewers will now have the option to watch our racing in High Definition on SBS HD this season,” said Shannons Nationals Series Director, Rob Curkpatrick.
“Our live streaming product is also a key part of the product we can offer categories, competitors and fans and it is central to our growing the series. We were proud to be one of the first major motorsport properties to offer it free-of-charge to everyone and will continue to do so for as long as it is offered.
“Our sponsors and categories see great value in their friends, families and supporters being able to get online and watch the racing from wherever they are in the world – and we have experienced a growing viewership of motor racing fans in general as well.
“This will be the best year yet for the Shannons Nationals with eight bumper rounds and fourteen great categories competing throughout the year. It should make for great viewing.”
Coverage from the opening round of the 2015 Shannons Nationals, to be held at Sandown on March 27-28, will be broadcast across three weeks in April.
Sunday, April 12, will feature coverage from the Australian Manufacturers Championship (AMChamp) season opening Sandown 3-hour classic, while the following Sunday will include action from the Dial Before You Dig Australian Super Six Touring Cars, Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship and Kumho V8 Touring Cars series.
The third show on Sunday, April 26 will include racing from the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series, Australian Formula Ford National series and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge presented by Pirelli.
