Pollicina Motorsports has unveiled its brand-new weapon for the 2015 Australian Manufacturers Championship – HSV’s latest Gen-F GTS.

Powered by a supercharged version of the 6.2 Litre LSA V8 motor, the GTS punches out 430kW of power and 740Nm of torque, making it the most powerful vehicle to ever compete in the AMC.

In recent seasons, the AMC has been dominated by smaller-capacity turbocharged vehicles, and Jim Pollicina is excited about catering for fans of rear-wheel-drive, Australian muscle cars, with a package he believes will be an outright contender.

“When I saw the specifications of the new GTS and realised it was going to be eligible for the AMC, it was too good an opportunity to resist,” Pollicina said.

The GTS, which will be sponsored by Poll Performance and MoComm Motorsport Communications along with factory support from HSV, will make its debut in the opening round of the AMC, the Sandown 3 Hour Classic at the Shannons Nationals on 28-29 March.

Pollicina says the Sandown circuit is an ideal place for the car to make its first appearance.

“With its long straights and slow corners, Sandown will really suit the handling characteristics of the GTS; its torque and acceleration will allow it to accelerate hard out of the corners and reach a high top speed,” Pollicina said.

Pollicina will share the car with a man who is very familiar with hustling V8 race cars around Sandown: five-time national Commodore Cup Champion Geoff Emery.

“Geoff was one of my team-mates in the Dunlop Series last year and he’s a very experienced driver,” Pollicina said.

“Our driving styles complement each other really well, and he’s also used to working with my team manager Dean Lillie. His feedback will be valuable in fine tuning the car over the course of the weekend.

"I'm also pleased to have David Slater on board as my engineer."

Pollicina will be on double-duty over the Sandown Shannons Nationals weekend, also competing in the Kumho Tyres V8 Touring Car Series.
