JORDAN LOVE WINS RACE THREE AND ROUND

Jordan Love has won his first round of the 2016 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship, after claiming his second win at Phillip Island in today’s final race.

“Really good race,” Love said.

“Started off second, managed to get the launch on Nick but he managed to beat me into Turn One. Good job to him.

“It took a couple of laps to get by him but once I did, I was just head down flat out and hopefully pull a gap which I managed to do.

“It’s good to come away with the weekend win, but there’s still plenty to come. It’s a long championship. I’m looking forward to all those races.”

Will Brown enjoyed a dynamic race, finishing the final race in second place after a climb back from fourth position. Brown also claimed the U Race It Fastest Lap of the race with a 1:35.0526.

“It was a good race,” Brown said.

“Obviously Jordan took it out but we had an exciting race. Went back to fourth and I was able to come back up to second.

“So it was a great round, ended up second so we’ll look forward to Sydney Motorsport Park. We’ve got two months to do a bit of practice and keep fit and hopefully we can go good down there.

Starting from pole, Nick Rowe was unable to hold off the advances of the Team BRM machines as they shot up the field during the ten lap finale.

“We had a good battle with Jordan at the start and a good battle with Will in the middle,” Rowe said.

“We just didn’t quite have the pace of them BRM boys, but we’ll work on it for SMP [Sydney Motorsport Park] in a few months time and see where we can get up to.”

Josh Denton was awarded the Burson Rookie of the Round, and the rookie displayed his talents in earnest climbing as high as third with a spirited move around the outside of Brown at Turn One. Denton ultimately crossed the chequered flag in fourth.

“It was really good racing throughout the whole weekend,” Denton said.

“I’m really happy with how the weekend went. Bit of technical difficulty in Race One but we bounced back from that to finish fourth in the final race so I’m really happy with that…it was really exciting racing.”

“I learnt a lot about the track and how I can drive the car, and what I should be doing to drive the cars. Getting ready for Sydney in two and a half months so we’ll see how that goes.”

Simon Fallon again enjoyed a strong showing in his Formula 4 debut with DREAM Motorsport to finish fifth, ahead of AGI Sport’s Jack Smith in sixth and Josh Conroy in seventh.

Tyler Everingham and Brenton swapped race paint on the opening lap at Turn Four, to round out the final two placings.

The CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship returns for Round Three of the championship at the Shannons Nationals Sydney Motorsport Park round on July 1–3.
